White House, VA Announce New Electronic Record Effort
The White House and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) last week announced that VA and DoD have taken the first steps in creating a Joint Virtual Lifetime Electronic Record (JVLER), which will ease the transfer of health care information among agencies. Currently, there is no comprehensive system in place that allows for a streamlined transfer of health care records between DoD and VA, the White House said in a statement. Both departments will work together to define and build a system that will ultimately contain administrative and medical information from the day an individual enters military service throughout their military career, as well as after they leave the military, the White House said. JVLER is part of larger effort to improve technology to deliver services and benefits to vets. To see more, go to: www.health.mil/Press/Release.aspx?ID=636.
