FamilyLine for Sea Service Families
October 11, 2005
If you are in a Navy, Marine Corps or Coast Guard family, and you have questions
about the military lifestyle, there is a place for you to go for answers.
An organization called FamilyLine exists solely to help sea service families.
It currently has 150 volunteers whose mission is to support, educate and inform
these families, as well as give them referrals.
The volunteers answer questions over the phone and e-mail; they conduct seminars
for spouses; and have spouse-to-spouse mentoring programs. They also distribute
and produce books and other publications on the sea service lifestyle.
FamilyLine volunteers write, edit and publish the Guideline Series, which
include:
- Guidelines for the Spouses of Command Senior
Enlisted Leaders;
- Guidelines for Launching Clubs and Support
Groups;
- Guidelines for the Spouses of Commanding
Officers and Executive Officers; and
- Guidelines for Spouses of Chief Petty Officers.
Established in 1965 by and for Navy spouses, FamilyLine later expanded to
include Marine Corps and Coast Guard families. It is financed only by contributions.
FamilyLine volunteers staff their office from 10:00am to 1:00pm (Eastern Time)
Monday through Friday. For questions, call (877) 673-7773 or (202) 433-2333
or DSN 288-2333 or e-mail: nsfamline@aol.com.
FamilyLine also has a Web site with more information, which can be found at: www.lifelines.usmc.mil/portal
