C. Gerald R. Ford, our 38th president from 1974-1977, was APPOINTED to the vice-presidency after the resignation of Richard Nixon’s original vice-president, Spiro Agnew, in 1973. About a year later, Ford became president upon Nixon’s resignation after the Watergate scandal.
