USPS settles multimillion-dollar lawsuit
The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has pre-approved a multimillion dollar settlement against the Postal Service for allegations that the agency discriminated against employees with disabilities, Federal Times reports.
Roughly 41,000 past and current Postal Service workers with permanent disabilities from 2000 through 2012 whose work hours may have been restricted as a result of their condition will split the remainder of a $17.3 million settlement after lawyers pursuing the case deduct their $4.3 million share, the article notes.
USPS denied the allegations but said it wanted to avoid continued litigation; final approval is expected next week.
