Thousands of GSA employees to share multimillion-dollar settlement

Up to 5,000 General Services Administration employees will soon be receiving their share of a $30 million settlement, Government Executive reports.

According to the report, a spokesman for the National Federation of Federal Employees has confirmed that thousands of GSA employees are eligible to receive back pay for the period between 1999 and 2012 when employees were erroneously classified as exempt from overtime rules when they were in fact eligible under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

The settlement covers only those employees who are or were part of the bargaining unit represented by NFFE, which will work with GSA on determining how much each employee will receive, the article notes.
