Thousands of postal workers accept latest buyout offer

Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe said that approximately 20,000 employees so far have accepted the U.S. Post Service’s most recent buyout offer, Federal Times reports.

USPS offered the $15,000 buyout in October to most postal workers represented by the American Postal Workers Union. The incentive payment, which workers can receive either by resigning or taking early or regular retirement, closes on Dec. 3.

Donahoe went over the numbers during a Nov. 15 conference call with reporters.
