Senate veterans panel leader to step down
The chairwoman of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee is planning to leave her position to seek a new role focusing on the federal budget, the
Seattle Times reports.
According to the report, Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.) said that she is looking to replace Sen. Kent Conrad (D-N.D.) as chair of the Senate Budget Committee upon his retirement.
Murray also sits on the Senate Appropriations Committee, which allocates money to discretionary programs, the report noted.
