OPM says retirement claims ahead of projections

The Office of Personnel Management last week reported that it processed 12,228 retirement claims in October, slightly more than the 11,500 claims it had projected for the month.

At the same time, OPM received 8,138 new retirement claims in the month, also more than the 7,000 claims it had projected.

Overall, OPM trimmed its inventory of pending claims to 37,086 in October, putting its progress slightly ahead of 38,478 claims it had projected. It ended September with an inventory of 41,176 claims.

The agency posted the results in its monthly retirement claims processing update.
