Federal Employee Education and Assistance Fund
The Federal Employee Education and Assistance Fund (FEEA) is directed by Steve Bauer, and is located at 3333 S. Wadsworth Blvd., Suite 300, Lakewood, CO 80227.
It provides college scholarships and emergency loans and grants to eligible civilian federal and postal employees and their dependents.
FEEA, which receives no government funds, is a Combined Federal Campaign charity (CFC# 11185) founded in 1986 that manages its programs through a network of volunteers nationwide. Its services include:
Emergency Assistance-- Financial assistance is available for personal financial emergencies. Homelessness, utility shutoff, eviction threats, and the loss of a family member are some examples where assistance is provided to federal families. FEEA also helps federal families affected by natural disasters. FEEA has provided more than $7.7 million in emergency financial assistance since 1986. FEEA provides no-interest loans of up to $1,000 for personal financial emergencies and grants of up to $500 for those recovering from natural disasters.
Scholarships-- FEEA scholarships range from $500 to $7,000. Minimum requirements are at least three years of federal service and a 3.0 grade point average on an unweighted 4.0 scale. Applications are available from January through March each year. FEEA has awarded more than $10.2 million in scholarships to federal employees and their dependent family members. FEEA also awards seven scholarships of $5,000 each as part of the FEEA-NTEU Scholarship program. All applicants eligible for FEEA’s regular program are also eligible for the FEEA-NTEU awards.
